BAB_09 Restored After Its Mysterious Disappearance

Good news, the Invader mosaic, referred to as BAB_09, located along the Marinella beach promenade in Anglet (Basque Country), has reappeared after two weeks of being missing.

The mosaic mysteriously disappeared on February 13, 2024.

It was originally placed in November 2024 during the Basque Country invasion, which included 60 mosaics mainly in Biarritz and Bayonne, but also in Anglet, Bidart, and Ciboure. This artwork was a joy for seaside walkers in Anglet. However, it mysteriously vanished in mid-February 2025!!

According to the mayor, whom we contacted, its disappearance was not the work of municipal services. While most of the works, installed in a few nights on walls in Bayonne, Anglet, Biarritz, as well as in Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Guéthary in November 2024, are placed high up and remain intact, the Marinella mosaic, easily accessible, had disappeared. This wasn’t a decision made by the municipality but rather by an anonymous hand. The creator’s reputation and the value of his works might not leave people indifferent. To everyone’s surprise, on the morning of Monday, March 3, it was restored! By whom, is a complete mystery.

The sunrise near the Le Sunset restaurant, which is preparing for its season, and the Marinella surfboard marking the famous Anglet beach, once again display the artwork! This piece by Invader, which can be called “The Wave,” has regained its place!
